Welcome to Example Federation
Welcome to the Powys Brecknock Federation
Powys Brecknock Federation lies in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park, a predominantly rural area. The scenery is both spectacular and beautiful; from the magnificent peaks of Pen-y-fan, Corn Ddu and Cribyn, to the peaceful and ancient Llangorse lake. It is an area that welcomes visitors of all ages and from all over the world. It is especially loved by those who enjoy activity holidays such as sailing, mountain biking, hill walking and horse riding. For the more sedate, we offer Brecon Cathedral, a military museum, the annual Brecon Jazz Festival, not to mention the world-famous Hay Literary festival and folk music at the Green Man Festival.
Powys Federation was established in 1927 and today we have institutes of varying sizes from those with a dozen members to others of thirty plus members. Our total membership stands at 427.
We have a Federation Office at St. David’s House, Free Street, Brecon which is open every Friday from 10.00am - 12noon (Telephone 01874 622666 or Email powysbrecknock@gmx.co.uk). A warm welcome awaits all visitors.
We are a busy Federation with sub-committees which include Art and Leisure, Craft and Home Economics and Public Affairs. Each committee organises events and talks to interest our members. A monthly County Newsletter is produced by a dedicated team.
I am a member of Trallong & Penpont WI having served for a number of years as County Treasurer, I became County Chairman in May 2018.
My overriding image of W.I. today is of laughter, fun and friendship. Come along and join in.
Mary Robinson
County Chairman.
